Truely a place of worship where ministers and attendees possess no aire of judgement, contrary to many traditional evangelical styled churches. The unique take on many of the Biblical stories provides an refreshing insight to many stories that have been lost in translation, while including new age thought and practice to improve one's existence. If you try it once, you'll support these kindred souls in their mission. I highly recommend!

The people at CDM Spiritual Center really care about the well being of others. I was looking for a spiritual center in Washington and found them. My experience there was awesome and it was wonderful to be able to meet so many new friends.

"How do people with even a little bit of common sense end up in these places?" That question was posed by a friend while we were watching a Scientology documentary.
The answer is simple: it's how the place initially presents itself.
For example, CDM's Google listing is "CDM Spiritual Center." Articles on the cult, written in new age publications, describe it as sort of unique place for soul development and spiritual growth. It claims it isn't like anywhere else on earth. It isn't all "woo-woo." It isn't a crystal cavern. Soccer moms and plumbers are members. It's all presented as a casual place where lofty spiritual topics are brought down to earth for people just. like. you.
But are people like you people who would feel comfortable with Scientology? Rosicrucianism? Well, you better be because those are the origins of CDM's teachings. To be sure, CDM isn't as organized as those cults and fortunately CDM has been in steady decline over the past decade, but nevertheless, the Pacific Northwest iteration of the Berkley Psychic Institute founded by Lewis Bostwick, is nothing more than a mishmash of Scientology and other fringe cults.
CDM has an additional allure--one that makes it particularly deceptive and especially heart rending. The place has, as it's founder and psychic in charge, one Mary Ellen Flora, herself a former disciple of the Berkley Psychic Institute. Ms. Flora is a charming woman who is almost impossible not to like when one first encounters her.
But most people only encounter her at public events, or in carefully crafted interviews, etc., when she is at her best. Most people aren't present for the "sessions" she leads when a member defects from the cult thereby immediately becoming a member of the "hate group." They don't hear her or her minions, who honestly believe they are doing a community service, engage in "clearing" all the badness the defector is putting in members minds, all the evil the defector always thought about you personally while s/he was supposedly your friend--back before s/he committed the crime of leaving the cult.
What is heart rending about any of that? CDM has, as its vanguard, people who are actually related to, or close friends of, its founder. When things go bad at the cult, the family or friends are often identified as the source problem. The family member or friend is identified--to other cult members--as someone one needs to be careful of because s/he has "created" a reality that is badly affecting the cult. And how does the family member or friend respond? As any true believer does--by believing. By accepting responsibility for something s/he is not even remotely responsible for. By apologizing for being disruptive. By clinging to the cult because walking away isn't walking away from a cult, it's walking away from family, from friends, and knowing full well that when gone, s/he will be vilified as an enemy of the soul.
In short, just look at the building, or the listing, or the article, walk on by, and pray for those who are still being victimized by this cult. They need it.Added October 04, 2016 by Johnny Appleseed
